Rapidly Spreading

2 Thessalonians Rapidly Spread by Nicole Plymesser Nelson

Isn’t the internet a fascinating thing?  It shares information so quickly, succinctly, and sometimes startlingly.  I am torn between being overwhelmed, bewildered, and in awe of everything available so quickly.

As Christians, this is a special time when the Word of God can be spread very rapidly.  Just as Christ was born when he was for very specific reasons:  a time when it would be easy for the gospel to go viral in an Old Testement kind of way.   We can use the internet to help rescue more people, bring them to Christ, show them the light and love of our God, and how following his teachings can lead them to a better life.

We are here to rescue other people, to love them.  We must remember that.

Another verse that has been popping up everywhere I go is 1 Corinthians 8:1…knowledge puffs up while love builds up.  I just looked up this verse online and apparently this seems to bring with it a fair amount of debate.  I see it as very straight forward:  we need to learn, but it is what we DO with that knowledge that is important.  Do we use it to build or condescend?  Do we remember the knowledge is from God and not ourselves?  Do we carry it with pride or humility?

When we are confronted with wave after wave of information we must find sure footing and decide what is going to help us spread the gospel of Jesus’ love.  Share the gospel with an open heart, a kind tongue, and hands stretched open to receive grace and offer it.

Go, Tell, and make disciples of all nations--spread the good news.
