Home is such an important place isn’t it? It is supposed to be a place of shelter, a place of acceptance, a place of comfort, a place of joy. I have been blessed to always live in a home that had all of those things. But not everyone is that lucky. But hopefully they are invited in to a home at some point that has those.
My hope is that our house serves God and it is a place of shelter, acceptance, comfort and joy for His babies–which is every one, all people. I pray that anyone who walks through our door feels the light and the love. That they see love spilling out the windows and puffing out the chimney.
If you ask Jeff, I invite in too many people (ask him about the woman who broke out her violin and played in our living room spontaneously–he thought that was strange and has never let me live that one down). But all people need a home for a season, even if that season is only for an impromptu concert. I always liked that story, because obviously she felt comfortable with me, even though I admit it made me uncomfortable at first. But I saw it as a learning moment. And sometimes, that is what serving is all about. Being open to learning and letting other people be open to it as well. Because…that is another piece of the home equation that I forgot above. It is a place of learning.
So this week I am going to focus on learning about home and what that means. Can’t wait to have you join me and give your two cents this week. 🙂
