This verse refers to ALL the works of God…but I am going to focus on the ones recorded in the Bible.
Studying the Bible is so different from just reading it. I have never read the Bible all the way through. But I spend every morning reading and digging deeper into selected texts. I read commentaries and histories and other studies to help me understand the poetry, context, deeper meanings. There are so many layers to the words and stories of the Bible! We can take them at face value, but we can get so much more out of those simple words in a not so simple book when we take the time to understand them, apply them to our own thoughts and emotions, and enjoy them in a bigger context. We can find that they will point to things in our daily life, or we might find that we will have to wait for heaven to enjoy the full meaning and promise of those phrases.
Nothing is ever simple with God. That is for sure. I mean, look at the complex world He created! Why would His inspired texts be any different? He knew, and planned, to make His works something that would take careful consideration so that we would melt it into our hearts, brains, and the very fibers of our beings. And He knew that when we take the time to dig deep into them we would truly delight in His works.
