Empathy–that was what I got out of these verses. Not only do we need to think of people in physical prisons, but also those affected by prisons either of their own making or by circumstances that they cannot free themselves from. I know a lot of these people. I have finally realized I do not have the keys to let them out, only they do. But I can pray for them that they will hand their issues to Jesus and find healing. I can hope that they see how God wants to help them and other believers. I can remember not to judge, and not pity, but give them some understanding–and maybe a wide berth.
