Deuteronomy 7:6 Lord Chose by Nicole Plymesser Nelson

I first need to give a shout out to Debra Deady who commissioned this verse!  And a shout out to Vicki Poole for her habit in faith journaling that makes this verse even more special:

What if it said:  The Lord has chosen you NICOLE to be His own special treasure.?

Because He did.

Say it to your self inserting your name.  He chose YOU.

He chose us to do little things and big things.  Because it is all of those that add up to a life of discipleship.  Remember He is pleased when we commit our work to Him because He loves us.  He isn’t counting on success or weighing it as better or worse or with holding love because we don’t measure up.

Lately it feels like a whirlwind of activity that is happening for this business.  But I have to step back and remind myself:  This took TWENTY  YEARS of work.  I got an art degree–4 years. I taught art in schools– 7 years.  I was in an art society and did one tiny show and I went to a retreat and did a tiny show.  I mailed out inquiry letters and made a trip to New York to the stationary show way back in 2002–which scared me enough to quit trying at all for a few years.  I did scrapbooking, classes and calligraphy for 9 years–but no painting.  There were years in there of stagnation.  But there were lots of little steps moving my faith.

But when I devoted my work back to God 3 years ago, when I started believing again that He chose ME for THIS, I felt empowered and confident to do the work necessary to spread His love.  That is what this is.  This is my response to the great commission.  Twenty years of wandering around led me to my promised land.  Twenty years of trust, patience, strengthening, endurance, and prayer.  Hours of practicing my craft and honing the spiritual gift God gave me.   What started as 10 minutes a morning is more like 2 hours of painting now and several hours of business work.  It is now a full time job–on pittance pay–UNLESS you count the treasures I am stacking up in heaven which are worth way more.  Worth all the years.  Worth every moment. For Him to choose me as His special treasure to do this work for HIM.

ALL worth it.

Are you in a place of wandering right now?  Or maybe you are in the promised land but feeling dejected and not worthwhile.  Be confident in this:  He has chosen YOU!    You are His special treasure as well.  You are stacking up heaven riches.  The more you work at it, the more you accept it, the more visible it will be.  Your path will lead you to Him, and that is best we can ever do.

Say that verse again and insert your name:

The Lord has chosen you/me __________to be His own special treasure.

Go, Tell, and make disciples of all nations--spread the good news.

Confidence Week

Sound like a strange theme for the week?  Maybe it is.  But I need it, all the teachers going back need it, all the mamas counting down the days need it, and let’s face it–we can all use a little confidence boost!  Are you with me?

This Thursday I take my very first real business trip in a very long time!  I am going to Atlanta on Thursday to all sorts of art businessy meetings and I cannot contain my excitement!

Commit Your Work Proverbs 16:3 by Nicole Plymesser Nelson

This is the crux of it all for me:  I finally gave into committing my whole body of work to God and He is pleased.  I am feeling very blessed.  And the wonderful thing about all those meetings, is that each one is an opportunity to discuss Him and His great commission.

I will meet with a marketing team and author.  I will be on tv with Leslie from Bible Stories from the Heart promoting the Bible Study and Faith Journaling.  I will be offering a class.  And we will be out promoting the printed copy of the Exodus study.  It will be a whirlwind weekend!

All of it is work committed to Christ.  I know I can be confident that these plans will succeed.  And I can trust in the fact that I can be comfortable with any level of outcome–because God will be.  If I reach one more of His sheep during those meetings, He is pleased.

That can be the hard thing for us to remember in our current culture.  More is more.  The bigger the better. Expect new, first place, outstanding numbers.

But that isn’t what necessarily means success to our Lord.  One sheep. He is pleased.  ONE.

Even if  I am the one sheep who comes closer to Him by committing my work:  HE IS PLEASED WITH ME.

That right there is a confidence booster!  I want to make other people proud, I want to do great things, but really–the MOST important thing ever is to find favor with Jesus.  And this will definitely bring me closer to Him.  And it will help me feed His sheep.  AND I know He will be with me every step of that work.

And He will be with you.  He will be pleased with you and your efforts.

Go, Tell, and make disciples of all nations--spread the good news.
